Process

  1. Decide what you want from your illustration request including: content, size, quantity, format, deadline, and usage. If you‘re not sure just yet, that‘s fine too!

  2. Get in touch! Briefly explain your expectations to me via email, maryflorahart@gmail.com. Sending existing examples of my own work or other’s as inspiration is really useful. I.e. “I like the composition of image A, but with the colour pallet from image B”. We can then discuss prices and an achievable timeframe.

  3. I will then send over a contract for you to sign and agree to and the work can begin. Throughout the process, you’ll receive regular updates, so we can work together and make adjustments if needed, to ensure the final piece is perfect.

Prices

The final cost of illustrations is dependent on the usage, rather than the approximate time that it would take to draw. For example, a front cover of a magazine will cost more than a small spot illustration within the same magazine, and an illustration for a worldwide magazine will cost more than a local one. Fortunately with my style of my work, the size of the image and usage expectations often work hand in hand with the level of detail and therefore time required to create a piece. I‘m happy to work within an hourly or day rate if that suits your finance team better, and as long as you appreciate the creative process doesn’t easily fit into normal expectations.

If an image is for merchandise usage, you will be charged a flat fee plus a percentage of profit from

Considering an illustration will be used for personal use, custom illustration commissions range in price anywhere from £150-300 per single image. This is purely based on the approximate time that the illustration would take to draw. If you have any questions, please get in touch via email to maryflorahart@gmail.com.
