August Silence and September Updates

After effectively a full month off anything art related, it’s time to get back into the swing of things…

During the summer, I mostly worked at events to give myself a break from my desk and enjoy some time outdoors. I’m super grateful to have 2 totally different jobs, both zero hours so I can pick and choose what I do and when I do it, taking pressure off the need to be creative 24/7. But September is just around the corner and I’ve been working on a few bits behind the scenes which I’m very excited to share more about.

Firstly, as of the 1st September, I’ll be stocking with a new shop, The Homegrown Gift-shop, based in Windmill Hill City Farm, just round the corner from me in Bedminster! As part of the agreement with this shop, I will also be working a weekly shift, taking it in turns with the other stockists. I’m really excited for this opportunity to learn new skills, get involved in the local creative community and open new doors. I now stock with 4 different shops in and around Bristol! I’d love to expand my audience to more shops within the UK, so if you know of any places looking to stock botanical illustrations drop me an email!

I’ll also be getting back into regular market stalls, starting with a really fun one, The Volcom Garden Experience in Lost Horizon on 9th September! Followed by my favourite faithful local spot, Tobacco Factory the next day. From the start of October, in the lead up to Christmas (I know gross that I’m thinking about it this early) I hope to be doing at least 1 market stall a week, but ideally 2. I’m currently in the process of booking as many as possible, spreading out as far as I logistically can with all my stock, in order to make the most of the busy season and get my work seen by as many people.

Then potentially the most exciting of all the updates, at least for me anyway, on 23rd and 24th September, I’ll be exhibiting the work I create for the Electric Feels project at the V&A for the Digital Design weekend!! I grew up admiring the V&A, so I’m incredibly grateful for this opportunity to exhibit here. I’ll be sharing more details on this event sooner to the time.

Lastly, I’ve just confirmed an exciting commission that I can’t speak about too much right now, so I’ve got a super busy month coming up! If you looking for a commissioned illustration, commercial or personal, drop me a message, just know I won’t be able to work on it until the end of September/October.
