As I mentioned in my last blog post, I’ve recently finally been able to get on top of the mountain of admin on my to-do list and subsequently given myself more time and energy to invest into drawing for personal projects, so here are 2 illustrations as part of my series capturing moments from our travels around Australia & Bali!
The Peach Farm, was one of the first campsites that we stayed at whilst travelling in our lil rented van, driving up from Sydney to Cairns. As somebody completely obsessed with animals, it was also probably my favourite of all the campsites we stayed on. So I decided to draw this image capturing the best part of the day, feeding time! 🐑🐐🦆🐓🦚🚜
I actually finished this one months ago, but as this was during an episode of bad mental health, I was being unnecessarily critical. It wasn’t until I took a good chunk of time off and completed a different drawing in the series, (Lazy River) that I was able to remind myself that not every drawing has to be my favourite! This other drawing however, is a new favourite! Despite it taking far longer than I’d like it to, it also feels particularly fitting for the illustration, that it was done with a lazier, more relaxed approach! 🧘🏻♀️
This Lazy river illustration was inspired mostly by a trip to Waterbom waterpark in Bali, but the main aim was just to capture the exquisite, care-free feeling that comes with floating on a rubber ring amongst luscious greenery, an unmatched experience 🌞✨🍃🌴🌱
With this travel illustration series the main aim was to encapsulate storytelling of my experience, (which so far I feel it does very well) rather than create picture perfect prints. But as I’ve stepped back into the market scene, I’ve been craving new additions to my sellable products, mostly because I’m finding markets to be quite repetitive and I’m bored of talking about the same products that I’ve had for years. Thankfully, I feel this Lazy River illustration not only fits into the storytelling of my personal project, capturing my travels, but also works very well as a print, which I hope will be popular amongst many people who enjoy a lazy river! This can now be purchase online through my shop, or in person at up-coming market stalls!
