Jordan Rakei Gig

I’ve been having a rough time in my personal life recently, which has subsequently had a big impact on my work life. However towards the end of last month I saw Jordan Rakei preform at Bristol Beacon, and not only was it massively enjoyable and beneficial for my mental health, it also ignited a significant amount of creativity and motivation which I’ve really been lacking, and encouraged me to capture the experience in an illustration.

I’ve always been a huge fan of live music, and it’s often been the subject of my artwork. I bought a ticket to this concert a few months before, blissfully unaware of how my life would be so dramatically different at the time of attendance, and how much I would need it, but it ended up being a beautiful reminder that music will always be something I can go back to, no matter how bleak life feels.

FLORA Prints

Back in 2019, for a 2nd year university project I created FLORA, an exploration of psychedelic musical environments, with the goal of demonstrating how music can be truly immersive by creating visual languages for 5 different genres, and 5 years down the line, it still holds a very special place in my heart! I’m sharing this for two reasons, one being a little reminder or outreach that I’d absolutely love to get involved in more music inspired projects. I’ve been incredibly lucky to have a music fuelled summer, attending a couple festivals including Boomtown, Outlook, and Outro Festival, seeing some of my favourite artists preforming, and it’s definitely reignited my passion for live music! I’m attempting to knuckle down a little more as we approach the end of summer, so the second reason I’m sharing this is to highlight that these illustrations are now available as prints again, and are soon to be stocked with 2 of my retail partners! Custom Cat Portrait

I recently put a reach out on Instagram for commissions, and was thankfully met with a request the same day by an old friend wanting to create a pet portrait for her partner’s upcoming birthday! She wanted to capture their two incredibly loved cats in amongst pinks and oranges, to match the theme they were going for in one corner of the house.

I’m really happy with how the end product came out and I know the customer was happy too as she shared load of positive feedback and I got these beautiful photos of it displayed in their home!

Unpublished perspectives!

Sharing an old simple POV illustration capturing the more luxury film experience that Everyman Cinema’s has to offer. Kicking your feet up in fancy boots to watch a film accompanied with an iced grapefruit cocktail, and bowl of green olives, how sophisticated!

I absolutely love creating personal perspective illustrations. I like to make the audience feel like they’re at the scene, translating my ideas to their brain. I feel capturing perspectives in this way creates an immersive, and therefore more engaging image, and at this point it feels like an integral part of my illustrative style! This style can particularly be seen in my recent travelling project, along with the illustrations that I did for Elle Decoration Magazine over the years!

This illustration was drawn for a project that I received from my previous art agent back in 2021 that never got published. Unfortunately my experience as a whole with this illustration agency was disappointing, landing me next to zero work in 3 years of representation… despite this, I’m optimistic that alternative representation could be beneficial for me, so I’m on the lookout for a new representative! I have to stick to the terms of my original agreement and am still within the ‘cooling off’ period so unable to join with a new agent, but I am however looking at potential options, so please drop me a line if you’re an agency looking for more artists, or alternatively if you’re an illustrator who’s been really happy with your agent, send me some recommendations of agencies to apply to!
